About a year ago, I learned about this thing called The Vagus Nerve when I was first making the "connection" (no pun intended) between gut health on mental wellness. Now my eyes are wide open, and I would like to share my ideas with you all. The Vagus Nerve extends from the brainstem through the neck and spine down to the abdomen. It is the axis that carries messages from the gut to the brain and vice versa. In many cases, it can be the key to unlocking our parasympathetic nervous system - the system for rest and digest. When we improve the health and functionality of the vagus nerve and even stimulate the vagus nerve, we can improve our ability to manage stress. Our nervous system can become "flexible" again. (sorry not sorry) 😉 Join me on WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 10/10 11am for a FREE VIRTUAL yoga and breathwork class. We will also incorporate vagus nerve stimulation and learn about more ways to enhance the health of this system and improve our mental health.
